Fanwood Presbyterian Church
History in the Making
The Future 2007-
History Overview | 1929-1954 | 1955-1980 | 1981-2006

Fanwood Presbyterian Church is entering a new era as it welcomes a new Senior Pastor, Rev. David Jahnke, to lead the congregation forward starting this June. The church has developed a new mission statement and kicked off a fund drive to support capital improvements and mission projects in equal measure. The Wells of Salvation Drive will support drilling wells in Kenya, new church development in Elizabeth and programming for residents of the Park Hotel in Plainfield, NJ.

FPC members continue to serve God through the many activities and opportunities that have been available for years, along with newer programs such as Youth Group Babysitting Services for members of the congregation and Westminster Preschool.

It is with great excitement that the Pastor Nominating Committee announces our unanimous selection of Reverend David Jahnke as candidate for pastor of Fanwood Presbyterian Church.   On Sunday March 25th David led us in worship.  Following the service there was a congregational meeting to vote on his candidacy.  There was also a reception on March 24th to provide an opportunity for the congregation to meet David.

Each time we have met with David over the last several months we have felt the call of God affirmed.  As we have grown to know David better we have felt his deep love of Christ through his openness, humility, love, tolerance, and forgiveness.

We have experienced his worship style that honors traditional elements of Reformed worship, yet is spirit-filled and innovative.  And we have heard strong inspirational preaching that reaches the whole person.

You will be receiving additional information on David and his family as well as details on the March 24th reception..

Thank you for your patience, prayers and concerns during this time of discernment.   We ask that you continue your prayers for David, his family, and our congregation.
